The Savandurga hills are situated 60 kms away from Bangalore. The Billigudda and Karigudda peaks constitute the Savandurga hills are extremely popular for trekking in Bangalore. Situated at an elevation of 1,226 metres, the range offers a serene and sublime atmosphere for trekking and exploration in Savandurga. The Savandurga hill is one the highest monoliths in Asia.
The Billigudda peak is mostly preferred by trekkers over the Karigudda range as it has gentler slopes and yellow markings on the trail to the peak. Savandurga is covered with dense forests and without proper marking or an expert guide; you could lose your way and get lost in the jungles. The markings on the Biliigudda range ensure that you reach the peak safely and also take the best route to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
The Billigudda hill offers an easier gradient for comfortable trekking as compared to the Karigudda hill. Surrounded by lush greenery, the hill itself has sparse vegetation and is strewn with large rocky boulders.
You will come across walls of Tipu Sultan’s fort on various levels of the journey. There are seven walls in all and each wall will tell you how much more you need to climb. The peak of the hill offers a splendid view of the surroundings. You can feel all your fatigue vaporize as the cool breeze caresses you.
